We would love to have you as part of the Athletics Nelson family. There are various part-year and full-year options for anyone to join Athletics Nelson, from social to competitive. Full-year memberships allow you to take part in all events in the club – track and field over summer and road, trail and cross-country in the winter.

There are many benefits of being a member of Athletics Nelson:

  • Free or discounted access to more than 50 timed locally organised events annually (see our events calendar to see all you can take part in)

  • Being part of a welcoming and supportive club catering for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities

  • Full membership of Athletics Tasman and Athletics New Zealand (competitive members)

  • Access to coaching and group training sessions

  • Access to financial support through Club subsidies to take part in events

Athletics Nelson is the only senior club in the Top of the South affiliated with Athletics New Zealand, giving you many opportunities to run in New Zealand Championships around the country and the world. All of our membership subscriptions are done through Gameday (the online portal used by Athletics New Zealand).

Our membership options are to the right. These memberships also give you membership of Athletics Tasman and Athletics New Zealand, meaning you can access the benefits of those organisations too.

Seniors (15 years old and over)

Competitive

  • 23 years and over — $129 — Rolling annual subscription

  • 20 to 22 years — $115 — Rolling annual subscription

  • 15 to 19 years — $68 — One-off annual subscription (1 Apr to 31 Mar)

  • 15 to 19 years — $103 — Quarter (1 Jun to 31 Mar 2027 only)

Social

  • 15 years and over — $55 — Rolling annual subscription

Volunteer

  • All ages — Free — One-off annual subscription (1 Apr to 31 Mar)

Juniors (up to 14 years old)

Active

  • 7 to 14 years — $87 — One-off annual subscription (1 Apr to 31 Mar)

  • 7 to 14 years — $55 — Quarter (1 Jun to 31 Mar 2027 only)

  • 6 years and under — $56 — One-off annual subscription (1 Apr to 31 Mar)

  • 6 years and under — $34.50 — Quarter (1 Jun to 31 Mar 2027 only)

Membership Types

Competitive members can compete and place in all local events, as well as regional and national events such as regional championships, national championships (cross country, track and field, mountain running, road relays, etc.). Social members can take part in local events.

Rolling subscriptions take effect from the day you register and are valid for a year.

Family Discounts

A family discount of 15% is offered to families who register three or more members at the same time.

Additional Information

Your membership cost includes the separate cost of membership to Athletics New Zealand and Athletics Tasman. These costs are set by those organisations, and Athletics Nelson has no control over them.
